The recruitment process was a highly competitive, nation-wide search which resulted in 28 highly qualified applicants. Recruitment for the Fire Chief position was conducted by an outside firm, Ralph Anderson & Associates, who specializes in executive recruitment. The City of Corona has been without a permanent Fire Chief since April 2018.

Chief Young holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Protection Administration from Cal State University Los Angeles and a Master’s Degree in Security Studies from the Naval Post Graduate School. His fire service background includes extensive knowledge and expertise in Fire Suppression, Urban Search and Rescue, Hazardous Material Response, Fire Investigation and Paramedic.
